Who can volunteer with CHEER MEDICS FOUNDATION?

Anyone aged 18 or over can apply. Clinical roles such as mentoring medical students or clinical psychology support require relevant qualifications, but many roles — event coordination, fundraising, community outreach, elderly companionship and social media — need no medical background.

How much time does volunteering take?

Commitment is flexible and set by you. Most volunteers give a few hours a month; hospital visiting and elderly companion roles usually involve a regular weekly or fortnightly visit.

What happens after I apply?

The volunteer coordination team reviews every application and responds within 3 to 5 business days. Successful applicants complete an onboarding process before being matched to a role.

Why volunteer?

We rely on the generous support of dedicated volunteers. Medical school can be overwhelming, both academically and financially, and as a volunteer you can provide real assistance and mentorship to medical students.

We work with marginalised medical students and medically disadvantaged elderly people. By sharing your knowledge, experience and guidance, you play a direct part in shaping what happens to them.
