We welcome coverage of our work. For interviews, quotes or background, write to our communications team — we aim to reply within two working days, and sooner on a deadline if you say so.

Use this as our standard description. It reads from the same settings as the rest of the site, so it cannot go stale.

Cheer Medics Foundation, founded 2023, works at two ends of one healthcare system: the people training to provide care, and the people least able to reach it. It is based in Abraka, Delta State, Nigeria.

Please use the registered name in full on first mention.

Before you publish

Photographing and naming the people we work with

This is the part of a media policy that actually protects somebody. It applies to us as much as to you.

Consent is asked separately

Nobody who receives assistance has agreed to appear in coverage by receiving it. Consent for a photograph or a name is asked for on its own, and it can be declined without affecting what that person receives.

No clinical detail

We will not confirm a diagnosis, a treatment or a medical history, and we ask that you do not seek one from a beneficiary directly. That holds even where they are willing to discuss it.

Interviews go through us

Not to control the story, but so that whoever you speak to has been asked first and understands what they are agreeing to. We will not put a name forward without checking.

Corrections

If we get a figure wrong, tell us and we will correct it and say that we have. We would rather do that than have a number we cannot stand behind circulating with our name on it.
